Recommended Travel Products and Gadgets
All of this of course is highly dependent on the detailed factors of your travel style and destination – adjust accordingly. If you go for a weekend vacation by plane, you will pack differently than a month long backpacking journey where you hitchhike and rough it.
PACKING CUBES: Recommended for neat-freaks and organized people who like to save time from digging for items in their backpack or luggage. You can sort by underwear, toiletries, and cables for example, to have an easy overview. I started reusing packaging from shops where I bought socks and underwear. They came in small square plastic bags, so I reused them as ways to keep my belongings in order.
SMALL FIRST AID KIT: Can be custom made or bought already packaged. Should include essentials such as Band-Aids, bandages, gauze, multi-tool tweezers, cotton-tip swaps, ibuprofen, antihistamines, space blanket, thermometer, a small roll of duct tape, antibiotic ointment, latex gloves, lip balm and hand sanitizer gel.
MONEY BELT with RFID protection: This would strap around your waist and be concealed most of the time, holding important things such as passport, credit cards and cash. A separate wallet to hold necessary money and coins in your pocket is recommended when out and about. This will make thefts more unlikely and less painful when someone happens to take your wallet and you just lose a bit of money instead of everything.
SIMPLE PADLOCK:This will secure your backpack, but certainly won’t be unbreakable. But this could detour opportunistic people from attempting to take a quick grab at it.
TRAVEL CONVERTORS AND ADAPTORS: Some people go crazy nowadays without electricity surging through their handy devices such as a phone, camera, mp3 player or laptop. A good travel converter, a portable battery or solar charger, are good options to stay charged on the road.
TOILETRIES: Travel sized comb, shower gels, shampoo, toothpaste, mouthwash, floss, deodorant, ear plugs and a sleeping mask.
HAVE FUN AND SAFE TRAVELS!
